How it works

Provide Estimates: Once you provide us some basic information we create a solar installation proposal for you, including the price, your payback period and the estimated ROI.
Surveys: If you are happy with our price, our team conducts a assessment of your homes suitability to ensure the proposed solar + battery solution will work for your home. Before the installation they will visit your home to ensure there are no issues.
Installation: Once the plan is finalized, our expert, MCS qualified technicians handle the installation process with precision and efficiency, ensuring seamless integration into your home.
Optimization: We optimize your system to not only meet your energy demands but also participate in grid balancing initiatives, maximizing your savings potential and ROI.
Monitoring and Support: Our dedicated support team monitors your system’s performance round-the-clock, providing a heads up if something is not working as expected and assistance if needed (extra costs apply).

How much will a solar installation with battery save me?

This depends on many factors, but typically speaking for homes that are well suited for solar, you will save around 60-85% on your annual electricity bills. For an accurate estimate please request a quote from us and we will run the numbers for you.

Do you offer financing to cover the upfront cost?

No, we currently do not offer any financing options for our SunMax solar installation service. However, if you are interested in financing you may also be interested in looking at our solar subscription offering, called SunFlex.

Do I own the system?

Yes, you own the entire solar system.

What happens if something breaks?

We offer an industry leading 3 year guarantee on any SunMax solar installations, so if anything happens during this period, you are fully covered. After this period you will be covered by the warranties of the hardware that is installed, which usually do not cover the time for an installer to rectify any problems, which you will need to cover yourself. Additionally, the battery and solar inverter typically need to be replaced after 10-15 years, which you will need to pay for at that point.

Is there enough sun in the UK? It’s not like Spain?

It is only natural to ask this as it is often cloudy in the UK, but surprisingly solar performs quite well in the UK. Yes, it is not as good as in Spain, but solar panels only produce about 30% less in comparison. This was not the same 10 years ago, but the technology has significantly improved since then. In any case, the investment case for solar in the UK usually stacks up if you have the cash to spend. If not, you should consider our solar subscription service, called SunFlex.

Does your solar installation come with bird proofing?

Yes, all our solar installations come with bird proofing as standard.

How long does the solar installation take?

We can install solar in as little as 4 weeks, but if you want to maximise your savings and returns it is best to opt for a higher powered system, which does require approval from your local energy distribution company (DNO), which can take up to 3 months. The actual solar installation typically takes around 2-3 days.

Are there any eligibility requirements?

Do I need to switch my existing electricity supplier?

No, you do not need to switch providers.

Do I receive any export (SEG) payments?

Yes, you get to claim and keep all the SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) payments as with any solar installation.

What happens if I move home?

You cannot easily move a solar system when you move home, so you will likely need to sell the system along with the home.

How good are your installers?

We use pre-vetted, MCS approved installers that we partner with to complete the installation. As well as the random checks done by MCS to ensure quality from these installers, we also do our own random checks, survey each customer after an install to check their experience. All this insight and more, is used to determine which installers we continue to work with.

Do you charge for providing access to the additional savings?

We do not charge you directly for this, but we do take a cut of the revenue that is generated to cover our costs and you are paid the difference.

Will I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, similar to the rest of the industry, we take a 20% upfront. Before we book the installation date we take an additional 50% and the final 30% is paid on completion of the solar installation.

Do you use solar installers near me?

Yes, wherever possible we use local solar installers near you, as they usually are the most competitive on price.

Do solar panels require maintenance?

Solar systems generally require very little maintenance over their life. From time to time the solar panels might need to be cleaned, but usually in the UK this is not required. The inverter and battery have a typical life of 10-50 years and so they will need to be replaced well before your solar panels, which typically last 30+ years. Some of the components might need to be checked every so often by a certified person, but other than these, it is mostly a set and forget system.

Do you install solar without a battery?

Yes, we can, but the payback of the system is typically faster with a battery included, especially with our SunMax offering.
